How I work

Proven methods, used in context.

I work with well-established, evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, and trauma-informed interventions. That said, methods only help when they fit the person in front of me. So we start by understanding your individual story and presenting complaint, then choose the approach that fits you best.

Your Path Forward

The intake is meant to feel as clear and supportive as the therapy itself. Here’s what to expect.

STEP 1

Initial Screening

A free 15-minute screening call to talk through practical steps such as insurance coverage, referral letters and see whether we’re a goodfit.

STEP 2
“Understanding the full picture”

Intake Session

A longer more structured intake session where, in conversation as well as diagnostic tools we understand your reason for seeking help, your history, your current situation, and what it is you would like to work on.

STEP 3

Together, we agree upon your stepped care treatment plan, directed towards your presenting concern, using the evidence based interventions most suitable for you.

Therapeutic Approaches

A closer look at the methods I use, grounded in my training and experience, and how each one supports change.

Adjustment & cultural identity

The challenges of migration and relocation: living between cultures, grieving what you've lost and who you are in a new context, and the underlying question of where you belong. Drawing on the cross-cultural kids framework.

Long-standing patterns

Deeply rooted ways of relating to yourself, others, and the world, often shaped by early experiences and relationships, that once made sense but now cause difficulty across relationships, work, and your sense of self. In therapy, we explore how these patterns formed, what sustains them, and what it takes to shift them toward healthier ones. I draw on experiential schema therapy or the psychodynamic approach to work with these concerns.

Trauma & difficult life events

Trauma, whether a single event or prolonged adversity, can result in intrusive memories, flashbacks, hyperarousal, and physical symptoms that disrupt daily life. It can also rupture your sense of self, others, or the world, causing recurring feelings of helplessness, anger, sadness, and the sense of not being seen or cared for. I use symptom-focused, evidence-based techniques, including EMDR and imagery rescripting (ImRs).

Evidence-based Psychological care

I work with evidence-based methods including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR (certified EMDR Europe practitioner VEN®), schema therapy, imagery rescripting (ImRs) as stand alone treatment, and in some cases with a psychodynamic treatment approach. Which method I use depends on what we’re working on and what fits you. I continuously take part in supervision, intervision and advanced training to keep my work current and grounded.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This approach helps you notice the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. By identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, you can better understand what's driving difficult emotions and reactions, and develop more balanced, effective ways of responding.

CBT

EMDR

This technique helps you process difficult or traumatic memories so they no longer feel overwhelming. By recalling the memory while following a simple set of eye movements, your brain can "digest" the experience, making it feel less distressing over time.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Schema Therapy

This approach helps you understand deep-rooted patterns in how you relate to yourself and others, often formed early in life. By exploring where these patterns came from and what keeps them going, you can begin to meet your needs in healthier ways. Sessions often go beyond talking, using techniques like imagery and roleplay to work through these patterns more deeply.

Psychodynamic Therapy

This approach helps you understand how past experiences and relationships continue to shape your present thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. We pay close attention to the relationship between us, since it often reflects patterns you experience elsewhere, and use this to strengthen your ability to understand what's really going on beneath your own

and others' thoughts and feelings.
